I want to give you some tips. When building your website, here are 5 areas to focus on to increase your chances of being found on google. Here are 5 areas to optimise your SEO!... 1. Headings!your headings are usually identified by search crawling bots by the <hx> tag. Your biggest and most important headings will be tagged with <h1>, with sub headings tagged as <h2> and so on. Having key search terms within your headings will show the search engine crawl bots that your content matches their search! 2. Image file names and alternate textAn image speaks a thousand words to views, however automated crawl bots cant determine the value on an image based on the code they find. Instead of uploading an image of your famous coffee beans with a file name of "IMG009234.jpg", instead rename it to have key words that image represents for example "finecoffebrisbane.jpg". In web design, images also have "alternate text" in the code which really means if for some reason the viewer has image rendering turned off in their browser, or your image doesn't load, what text would you like to appear in its place? This is another great place to describe the image with key searchable words so that the crawl bots know what the image is, and that it is relevant to your search without having to see it. 3. TitlesThis refers to your page titles and search titles. When you create a new page, even if the name of the page wont be displayed to the viewer, calling it something relevant and searchable is wise. Instead of "campaign landing page 6", title your page "How to save on insurance". As long as the page title represents exactly what the user will expect from a page with that title, and contains terms that people are searching for, it will help increase your search ranking. 4. URLSYour page often appears in your URL, however depending on your web design platform, you can change your page URLS to be more user friendly. www.website.com/win or www.website.com/brisbanes-best-coffee. Search engine optimisation also applies to your main website name, and in most cases, your business name. If you're company is call PipeDreams and sells surf boards in QLD, your main website might be www.pipedreams.com.au, although you could also purchase domains and direct them to your website like www.goldocastsurfboard.com.au, www.pipedreamssurfboards.com.au, www.cheapsurfboards.com.au. 5. DescriptionsDepending on your website design system, you may be able to add descriptions to your pages that aren't actually visible on your pages. Search engines often use these short descriptions when displaying results. You may notice if you google something, you'll see the main link/page title, and a line or two. This is often an exert from the page that contains your search terms, however it can often be your page description that appears. It's important to keep these concise, descriptive and full of naturally occurring key words. eg the page description for your "Office 365 licences comparison" page could be "An comprehensive and interactive comparison table of Microsoft Office 365 licences' features and pricing to discover what Office 365 licence is best suited for your business." Doing these 5 these will certainly increase your ranking with the major search engines. However Google and Bing's algorithms are forever changing and growing, and depending on how competitive your industry is, there's always other ways to increase where you appear on the search results. These include number and the seo ranking of sites your website is linked from, site traffic, how frequently your content is updated, as well as many other factors SEO specialists can advise on.
